I watched Atlantis tonight on BBC1 with my parents and honestly, watching it makes me pine a bit for the days of Merlin - which is why I've dug my old DVDs out and am watching the first episode with Mordred, which isn't all that different to what was going on tonight with Jason, Pythagoras and Hercules trying to protect a baby with a forbidden fate (although I kind of freaked out when I realised what that fate was).

With Atlantis, perhaps I recognise a little more of what's going on in the wider story as it's slightly more familiar, as I was always rather out of the loop with the legends of Merlin; all I knew beforehand was one or two stories here and there and the bulk of my knowledge came from The Sword in the Stone. I don't know how Atlantis will last; perhaps it will meet the same whimpering end as Merlin, perhaps not. We'll see.

Yay, though, new Who trailer! I'm still holding out for Sherlock most of all - I think they will do what they did before and broadcast it on New Year's Day, or maybe around Christmas. Personally, I don't mind that, because it's nice to know at least they've finished filming and I'd rather it came in fresh with the new year. I feel the fandoms are doing a winds of change thing right now; I'm going to be sad to say goodbye to Matt Smith and Sherlock's formula is probably also going to be different (especially if there is a new director) but that's what fandoms do.

When I was in Chester back in July, I basically got an idea for a whole bunch of mini-crossovers with Harry Potter, to celebrate the last film coming out - essentially, all the characters of my favourite fandoms attending Hogwarts in their own individual universe. My friend Anna wanted to know exactly what I was giggling for when we were headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

In any case, I've got a fairly set one for Being Human, two different ones for Sherlock because my brain just HAS to do it with both John and Joan (doh...), yet another for Merlin and now my brain also just informed me that it wants a McDean one as well.

I tried saying no, it would hear nothing of it. First it wanted Craig in Hufflepuff, but now it wants him in Ravenclaw. Craig IS rather clever. As for John-Paul, I've no clue where the hell to put him. I can't quite see him in Gryffindor, but I'm actually kind of drawn towards Hufflepuff for him, Cedric Diggory-style. Sonny of course would be Slytherin.

And don't even get me started on The History Boys (even though I know exactly where to put Dakin and Scripps) and hell, even Thunderbirds. To save myself the anguish of that last one given a few obvious problems, let's just say the Tracys went to an American equivalent (because actually, now I think about it, save for a mention of American witches at the Quidditch World Cup, did JK even really mention any kind of US educational system?) and because I think about this way too much: Scott and Virgil went into Gryffindor, Gordon and Alan went into Hufflepuff, and John went into Ravenclaw.

... I should probably just stop there now. Except my brain wants a Doctor Who one as well.

... How the hell am I supposed to place a 900-year-old Time Lord at Hogwarts? How's that gonna WORK?

Title: Keep Calm and Fandom On
Fandom: Merlin, but could be considered as something of a Merlin/Sherlock crossover.
Summary: Modern-AU/Genderswap. Arthur Pendragon is a tolerant chap – no, really, he is – but even he has his limits when his best friend and flatmate is a raging BBC, Sherlockian fangirl.
Pairing: Arthur/girl-Merlin, background John/Sherlock
Rating: Light R
Warnings: Brief sensuality, one or two swear-words, and given the content, spoilers for the first series of Sherlock as well as some for the upcoming second series. Also makes heavy references towards the Sherlock fandom itself.

A/N: The first proper Merlin story I’ve written, and it is, basically, a fanfiction about fanfiction. Essentially, I had an idea, inspired by one or two recent girl-Merlin fics I’d read, about what it would be like if girl-Merlin was into fanfiction – more specifically, Sherlock fanfiction - and then the dam just burst; I couldn’t resist, and Arthur is such a wonderfully grumpy bugger.

Merlin Emrys, Arthur officially decides at twenty-one, is, without a doubt, the most mentally deranged woman he’s ever met in his life. )

I haven't written any Arthur/Merlin before. I started this one a while ago but then thought I'd throw it out there tonight. As I'm mainly a Reincarnated-AU fan - as it's so much more fun and the possibilities for Merlin and Arthur are more open - you can, if you like, imagine them in that setting. Anyway...

What did you say? )
